Browse the breadth and depth of innovative, technology-centric solutions implemented by the Texas A&M Center for Applied Technology (TCAT) to address the needs of its diverse customer base.
A simulation-based environment for modeling the spread of a disease within livestock or poultry, effectiveness of potential disease response and control strategies, and the associated monetary costs. The system enables parameterization, management, distributed execution and aggregation of results, supporting "what-if" analysis and comparison of strategies by epidemiologists and responders in order to understand and assess potential disease events and their associated impacts.
Irrigation Decision Support System for Conserving Resources and Optimizing Production
Status: CompletedA producer-friendly crop model- and sensor-based irrigation decision support system designed to provide real-time irrigation schedules and projected economic outcomes based on water use and production goals. The system uses management information from the user in conjunction with externally sourced data, including projected short-term weather, and generates crop growth and economic model scenarios. Remote detection of plant water stress using a sensor platform mounted on a pivot irrigation system improves irrigation schedules. Demonstrated with cotton in the Texas Rolling Plains region.
A full-featured surveillance system that leverages a mobile-based data collection and web-based reporting system; this system has been fielded across Kenya and used to support syndromic-based disease surveillance among livestock and wildlife and antimicrobial use and resistance in animal production.
Designed, developed, and deployed a mobile Laboratory Animal Reporting Application (LARA) system for the restrictive Biosafety Level 3 biocontainment facilities within the Plum Island Animal Disease Center to increase efficiency of data management and improve data reliability and availability.
Developed a concept model to simulate Level 1 site exploitation of component debris following a detonation event by conventional or improvised explosives.
An integrated system that enables exploration of innovative healthcare delivery models, linking those in immediate need of emergency medical services with those qualified individuals that are nearby and capable of responding.
An easy-to-use, cross platform mobile application for digitally entering animal health certificate data. Submitted CVIs can be automatically and/or manually entered into state animal health information systems, as well as paper-based forms printed directly from the mobile application.
A laboratory platform for exploring innovations in mobile healthcare and those enabling technologies that are critical to advancement in this important area of research. The vehicle provides a fully reconfigurable hardware and software environment for hosting multiple research projects simultaneously that are centered on broader challenges in mobile healthcare.
Evaluated, selected, installed, integrated and sustained a video conferencing system infrastructure within five state, university, and federal research, diagnostic, and biocontainment veterinary laboratories across the U.S., enabling live sharing of microscope imagery, animal necropsies, laboratory test results, instrumentation, and field clinical signs between researchers and technicians across geographic and biocontainment barriers.
An integrated mobile application and web-based clinician portal that utilizes contingency management to increase engagement and adherence with therapeutic plans for patients under treatment for Diabetes Type 2.
